If you are holding back on purchasing of cafe chairs or any imported products, you might want to think again.
The lower Australian dollar and a whole raft of other issues are pushing prices up soon. I know of 3 of my major suppliers warning me of price increases of 15-20% in early December.

Balcony Furniture
Delivered some furniture on the weekend that has set a standard for all future deliveries, please. The purchasers were really pleased with the furniture, white fabric with white frame, but with a new twist to make the setting acceptable on any modern balcony (see pic)
After installation of the setting to the balcony, we all settled down to a couple of bottles of wine with caviar and crackers while enjoying the elegant scenery from the Seascape building, looking over the boat harbour and Coolangatta. Talking about load cells, websites, photography and more.
Good people, good food & good surroundings (good furniture). Should be more of it.
Occasional Furniture
This setting has been popular recently. Artificial wicker and a round glasstop table and includes a lazy susan as well. We have stock in hand currently, but stock levels will fluctuate as we get closer to Christmas. We have a few suggestions on the recently added occasional furniture page
Cheap Restaurant Chairs (again)
Call me (Bob) and I can put you in touch with the sellers
Cheap restaurant chairs
Excuse the headline, but, well they are cheap. A customer has upgraded their furniture through us, and needs to offload the currently used chairs. Close to 80 chairs are available for less than $10 ea. They are strong and comfortable, but need a bit of paint & varnish to look new again. Plenty of life left in them.

Pampered Pets
Another of our crazy friends, wanted an odd number of chairs for their high table alongside the pool. I was a bit curious, and asked, “why the odd number?”.
I should have known.
“Well, you know Jed, the dog. He gets a bit upset when we are having drinkies on the high chairs, and wants to be up on the same level as us. So, the 5th chair is for Jed.”
Adirondack Chairs

The Adirondack chair above is one of those extremely comfortable chairs that you end up loving. This one is made from a hardwood Eucalypt, natural or painted
GRC Table
We have just put a table together combining GRC & an iron base that we have had powdercoated.
It looks really good, but we haven’t had a chance to photograph it yet. This is a sneak peek.
Daylight Savings
My last post, and my involvement with John Hurd’s campaign against Daylight savings resulted in the local paper (Tweed Daily News) interviewing me and inserting a huge photo of Leah & myself looking concerned and under pressure from the looming DST change.
It starts tonight, and already we had some momentary cunfusion over appointment times for next week.
Daylight Savings in SE QLD
I don’t hate daylight savings, but I do have a hard time living in Tweed Heads (NSW) and having a different time zone splitting my customers during the annual Daylight Savings adjustment.
The areas from the Sunshine Coast (QLD) right down through Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Tweed Heads (NSW) to Byron Bay or Ballina, or even Coffs Harbour all have strong ties business-wise.
Queensland is the only state that does not have daylight savings, and that causes all sorts of problems with businesses in this part of the world.
Register your thoughts in an online poll at Hohn Hurd’s Networking site
It is not going to change unless pressure is brought to bear on Qld politicicians.
New Beginnings

The church that I go to has taken on a project of establishing an orphanage in Kafue, Zambia recently. The New Beginnings Church, based in Tugun, SE Qld is behind the project, led by Ken Legg, Rob Stuttle & Roger Wilson.
The whole project is expected to cost about $100,000, and although an extremely generous gesture of underwriting the whole project was made by one of the congregation, funds still have to be raised. The offer was to provide certainty for the project, rather than “owning” it altogether.
One way of raising money was to receive another generous donation of (5,000) brand new, sewn handbags to sell, and keep all the proceeds for the orphanage. I’ve got a “few” here in the shopfront, so any locals who would like to provide a little hope to some Zambian orphan kids should pop in and get a few. Excellent pacifiers for daughters & grand-daughters, or even good for carrying a few beers when having a BBQ with your mates – if you’re game…………
$3.50 each, or $10 for 3.
Visit Ken Legg’s site, or at his training institute, or email Ken at setfreemin@ozemail.com.au if you want to be more involved.
As a footnote, there is a new wesite for the orphanage at http://www.newbeginningschildrensvillage.com/
Quality Teak and Stainless Steel combo
It’s a bit unusual, but we’ve got a fantastic teak suite of outdoor furniture at the moment.
It has
It’s more expensive than the “run-of-the-mill” furniture seen around the place, but worth every cent. I have priced it at a level where it should move pretty soon, but at $9,900, it is still a package price that challenges most peoples pockets.
There are not too many places you can buy this quality, but we found one in Sydney, and a friend took it on themselves to get a price comparison. I was staggered to find that identical products would price out to around $25,000. Have I gone in too cheap?
Oh, the container arrived in East Timor early January, and everyone is happy. I must admit some pleasure in sending some furniture up towards Indonesia.
Contact
Email and web pages are back to normal again. The problems were in stateside servers. It doesn’t happen very often, but it’s like not having all staff on hand. It’s amazing how much the web has become an important part of the business.
Contact me
Email has crashed at the moment, not sure why. It seems the partition on my server has filled (if that makes sense). Sorry for the inconvenience.
